Prior to becoming a reflexologist, I used to work in management
accounts for a publishing company.
When my husband was only 28, he had an accident at work
which damaged his back. At one point his consultant told him to ready
himself for a wheelchair within two years.
It was at this point we tried complementary therapy. One
of my publishers gave me a book on reflexology and from the pictures,
I endeavoured to help him, and he began to improve.
I then went to learn reflexology at the British School;
passed their exams with Distinction (93%) in 1996. Advanced training
and assessments have placed me on the Register of Advanced Reflexologists
since 1999.
I am also a member of the Association of Reflexologists,
and a member of the NHS Directory of Reflexologists.
I have taken other reflexology courses only open to qualified
or advanced reflexologists,
such as Vertical Reflex Therapy techniques and Nerve Reflexology.
I am pleased to say that my husband does not use
a wheelchair - in fact, four years after that warning, he was to be
found riding his new motorcycle around the countryside of Essex.
For a year I worked in a clinic, gaining experience, I have
also worked for the probation service, treating people in a drugs
rehabilitation centre.
Now my practice is home based where I feel I can give quality
care and time to my patients.
