Reflexology dates back to Ancient Egyptian times.
There is a wall painting in the physician's tomb (Ankhmahor) at Saqqara
dating from 2330 B.C., which depicts a reflexology treatment.
In 1913 Dr William Fitzgerald introduced the therapy to the Western
World as "zone therapy".
Reflexology works with ten zones dividing the body.
In the 1930s a physiotherapist Eunice Ingham further developed zone
therapy into today's reflexology.
Since that time, further developments have taken place, leading to
Advanced Reflexology, Vertical Reflex therapy, and Nerve Reflexology.
There are many other methods also developing, some using meridians,
some using colour, and some using the ears.
One thing is certain - reflexology does
not stand still !
